We Have a Two Year Old!

So, Jacob turned two on Saturday. I can't believe it! It doesn't seem like he should be this age yet. We had a small family get together for him yesterday. It was so fun watching him open his presents. He seemed a little overwhelmed by all the fun things hiding in the wrapping paper.

Grandma

Grandma passed away on Monday. She has gone to be with the Lord and she is no longer feeling any pain. For us that are here, we will miss her very much!!! I love you grandma!!!!!!

Cuckoo

That is Jacobs word for cooking. It's so cute. He sat by me on the chair watching Food Network and when I would ask him what they were doing, he would say "Cuckoo!!" Then, when they would show a stove or something steaming, he'd say "Hot!!" After awhile of that, he actually asked to take a bath!! I'm so glad he likes bathtime!

Certificate of Citizenship

Jacobs Certificate of Citizenship came today! I was very surprised to see it after hearing that it usually takes a year to get. We sent our paperwork out on May 12. So really, it didn't take long at all. And I am really glad that we didn't have to go to Detroit. When I was getting the paperwork ready to send out, there were a few things that I wasn't sure if I needed to send. I sent them anyway. I figured, if they don't need it, they can dispose of it. I'd much rather have that than not send what they did need. So, I guess this means we are officially finished with our paperwork...yipee!!!! (Except post placement reports, which I personally don't consider paperwork.) I was also surprised to see that it says he has been a citizen since his birthday and not when we passed court. I guess that makes him a life long citizen?

One Year!

One year ago today, we visited Enat Alem orphanage as a couple and left as a forever family! The last year has flown by! It seems like just yesterday it felt like a referral would never come and now, the three of us have been together for a year. Our family is so blessed!

Leela

Today was a sad day for us. We had to have one of our cats put down. She was only 5 years old. We thought she would be Jacobs cat. Unfortunately she was very sick. We will miss you Leela.

He's gonna be a gourmet chef!

Walking

I thought I better make a post seeing it has been over a month since my last. I am not so good at keeping this up. It's official. Jacob can walk! He has been able to walk along furniture and with our assistance for awhile, but now he is doing it on his own! At first he only did it with prompting from us but now he does it a lot! It's so cute watching him learn and become more confident every time he gets up and goes. He went from 4 or 5 steps a few weeks ago to going across the living room.....with out stopping to catch his balance. Everyday he becomes more of a little boy. I still can't believe how quick he is growing and changing.

Snow

A few weeks ago, we had quite a bit snow, most of which has melted.....for now. We thought we would bundle Jacob up and take him outside. He really seemed to enjoy playing in it.
